Dia de Los Muertos
Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a vibrant Mexican holiday celebrated in November, honoring the spirits of departed loved ones with joyful reunions filled with food, drink, and festivities. The Division of Equity, Justice, & Inclusive Excellence embraces this rich tradition and collaborates wiht UC Merced Arts, and a variety of campus departments and offices. Together, we sponsor a Dia de los Muertos exhibit in La Galeria, showcasing the artistic talents of both community members and students.
Moreover, our collaboration extends beyond La Galeria as we proudly display ofrendas (altars) across our campus community, highlighting the diversity and unity within our university. This celebration serves as a meaningful way to honor the heritage and customs of Dia de los Muertos while fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity among our students, faculty, and staff.
